POPULAR WEDDING.

It is some considerable time since we had the pleasure of chronicling such a popular little wedding as that solemnised at St. Peter's Church, Hamilton, yesterday morning. The contracting parties were Mr Chas. Speight, third son of the late Mr Speight, of Parnell, Auckland, and Miss Kate Hill, daughter of Mr TIIO3. Mill, our respected fellow townsman. Mr Speight, or " Copper," as he is more generally known, has resided amongst us for some five or six years, and during that period he has earned the respect of everyone. He is a truo sport, generous hearted to a fault, and a man in every sense of the word. This is but a fair description, and we doubt if there is a more popular young fellow in the Waikato. Is it ony wonder then that the church was filled long before the appointed time on Wednesday morning by a host of anxious friends and well wishers. Tho groomsmen were Messrs J. Doveroll (Te Aroha) and Mr Jas. Hill, brother of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attended by her sisters, Misses Carrie and Florence, and looked winsome in a stylish lavender costume with white biocaded satin vest, white leghorn hat, with white ostrich feathers. She carried a lovely bouquet of maiden hair ferns and snowfiakes. The bridesmaids wore costumes of electric blue with deep cream vests, white leghorn hats, and also carried handsome boquets of jonquils and ferns. The ceremony was couducted by the Rev. R. O'C. Biggs, and at its conclusion the happy couple left the church amidst showers of rice and good wishes. A large number of relatives and friends was entertained at breakfast at the residence of the bride's parents, and Mr and Mrs Speight left forTc Aroha by th*j afternoon train, and quite a crowd of friends assembled at the station to wish the happy pair" Au revoir." The bride's travelling costume was a dark green cloth coat and skirt, and green felt hat to match.

The presents, which were numerous anrl costly, included a handsome suite of furniture, presented by the members of the Hamilton Football, Cricket, Athletic and Comedy Clubs and other frieuds. The auite was used in the production of " Sweet Lavender," and presented to Mr Speight at the conclusion of the third act. During the evening it excited general admiration. We feel sure that our numerous readers will join with us in. wishing Mr and Mrs Speight the essence of happiness during their wedded life.
