HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

THE statutory meeting of the Hamilton Borough Council was held on Thursday evening under " The Muncipal Franchise Reform Extension Act " to finally revise and amend the burgess list. Present: flis Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Dey, in the chair) Crs. Tristtam, Davis, Gwynne, Bright, Tippiu, Salmon and Sandes.

The Clerk read the Act and read the list as prepared by him in accordance therewith, and on the motion of His Worship the Mayor seconded by Cr. Sandes, these names were ordered to be added to same.

A number of applications for insertion on the various lists was theu read, and such as were in order were placed on the roll; while several applications were held over to allow of legal opinion being taken, and the Council adjourned until 7.30 p.m. on Friday to consider the same.

The adjourned statutory meeting was held last evening. Present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. Dey) in the chair, and Crs. Tristram, Davis, Gwynne, Bright, Salmon and Slade. An opinion was given by Mr A. Swarbrick on the various points submitted to him, and the Mayor said that those applications which had been held over could not be granted, except that of Mr Davis, in connection with which an unstamped lease had been presented, and abo that of Mrs Goodwin, change ot residence only.—Cr. Salmon moved that Mr IT, C- Davis' application be granted. —Seconded by Cr. Tristram and carried. —The application of Mrs Goodwin was also granted. The Mayor then moved that the applications of Jan. Tidd. T. Hughes, E. Johnson and Miss Grant bo not granted. ■—Seconded by Cr. Gwynne and carried-

The roll as amended was then ordered to be signed by the Mayor and Crs. Tristram and Gwynne.
