ST. JOHN'S, TE AWAMUTU.
TO THE EDITOK. .Sir,—ln the report of the annual meeting of the above church in Tuesday's Akgos I notice that the vestry report their total receipts as £155 odd and expenditure £l5O odd. Again, in the balance-sheet the wardens show the same figures, including tho item vicar's stipend £lO6 3s 4d on the expenditure side. In these total amounts the contributions towards the minister's stipend from the different churches iu Waikato West Parish, Pirongia, Rangiaohia and Kihikihi (all of which have their own vestry and annual balance-sheet), together with £2 10s from the KiDg Country, amounting in all to nearly £6O, are included, so that St. John's (Te Awamutu) really only paid some £46 odd towards the stipend. It would be better, I think, for the vestry of St. John's to produce a balance-sheet showing their own receipts and expenditure only. Again, the parsonage account is also included in their balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £177 odd. This account should also appear as Waikato West Parsouage Account, as it is not exclusively a St. John's, Te Awamutu, fund. These are small matters, but in connection with church affairs everything that may mislead the public generally ought, I think, to be avoided. It is, I think, quite an innovation in the annual balance-sheet of St. John's.—l am, etc., A Vestryman <sf Waikato West. August 16th, 1899.
