As the result of the police raid on a Chinese gaming house on Sunday night, Ah Shek, the keeper of the house, was fined £25, four others £2 each, and 17 £1 each. The banker who escaped at the raid is still missing. The Auckland Kennel Club’s Show and Collie Championship opened to-day. Two hundred and twenty dogs and puppies were benched. The Kuranui-Caledonian tributers return for the month showed 714 loads of stone for gold valued £ll4B. The Mariposa Company for the month crushed 121 tons for £142. The Waihi Consolidated Company has been purchased by a London syndicate. The Municipal by law in reference to the gatherings in the streets is to be enforced, and the first to be summoned is Richardson, the temperance lecturer, who has been holding meetings on Sunday afternoon on the wharf.
