(BY telegraph.—press association.) Dtnedin, Last Night. Dr Reiner, one of the oldest practitioners in Duuedin, died this morning. A young man, named Alfred Trowson, has been missing from his home at Signal Hill, for five weeks. Search parties are out.
Stratford, Last Night. A public meeting in connection with the Prohibition Convention took place last night, the proceedings at which were very lively. The hall was densely packed. The speakers were Revs. F. W. Isitt, J. Dukes and Hudson. Mr Paul, brewer of New Plymouth, also ascended the platform, and spoke in reply. There was considerable inter* ruption at times. On a statement made by him in reference to Rev. Mr Garland being resented, Mr Paul challenged the Rev. Hudson to prove that prohibition was in accord with Scripture. Mr Hudson at once ohalleged Mr Paul or any person chosen by him as his (Mr Paul's) representative to debate the question publicly on any platform in tho North Island. Mr Paul accepted the challenge.
