(BY TtLEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION). "Wellington, Last Night. The Arbitration Court sat to hear the application to enforce the award in the tailors dispute against the firm of Messrs Berry and Orr. The question turned on whether the particulars of the kind of pocket came under the award. The decision was reserved. New Plymouth, Last Night. At the inquest on the girl Reader, held on Saturday afternoon, the jury returned a verdict that the deceased met her death by falling from some height on to the rocks while in a state of great mental depression, caused partly by defective eyesight. T. E. Clirke, chief draughtsman of the Survey Office, died rather suddenly on ■Saturday evening from h;art disease. The deceased, who came here from the West Coast about five ynars ago, was a great authority on sea fisheries. Dunedin, Last Night. Mr Williams suspended the discharge of Alfred Thomas Price, chemist, for twelve mouths, and Francis Hearot Laing for two years, because in both cases the bankruptcy was partly attributable to gambling tranractions. Jas. Herley'fi (labourer) discharge was suspended for twelve months for not keeping proper book accounts of contracts in which he was interested. John Henderson, aged 60, a single man, was found dead iu a boardinghouse this morning. He had been suffering from a bad cough for some weeks. Auckland, Last Night. The Kapanui - Ro=e Casey coll sion court held the latter to blame, but considered it was not serious enough to justify the suspension ot the captaiu'a certificate. Pahiatua, Last Night. By the Opposition League poll G. Harold Smith was selected by a large majority to contest the Pahiatua seat, Thames, Last Night. Exceptionally heavy thunderstorms, with lightning, bail and heavy rain, passed over the town yesterday. It was severely felt at Kopu, where the lightning split a tree and nearly set fire to the telephone office adjoining the hotel.
