Inn Waikato Argus Office, "Wednesday. MESSRS McNICOL AND CO.'S STOCK
SALE. O.N Tuesday at Messrs McNICOI and Co.'s yards, about 200 head of cattle were yarded, nearlyall grown steers and dairy cows. Mr J. W.EUinhada line ofilOhead from his run at Pukeitti, they were a real nice lot well-bred and most of them fat, for which there was a brisk demand up to £0 15s. Dairy cows were numerous, about 25 yarded, a good demand for good sorts, store also sold freely up to 50s. The:c wasa large attendance of the public and the sale was a good oiip. The following are the quotations : Crown steers in good condition, many of them fat, from £5 5s to £6 15s ; dairy cows from £3 5s to £5 17s ; stores cows, £2 10s ; fat cows from £3 15s to £4. Sheep, about 600 were yarded, fat wethers, 12s Id •, fat eves, 10s, offered, 11.*, wanted; small hoggets, 3s 9d ; store ewes, Bs.—(Own Correspondent). ROTORUA MARKET REPORT. Mr W. T. Raymond reports under date, Rotorua, June 19th.—At the mart to-day buyers were in attendance, and a heavy catalogue of poultry and produce met with good demand. I quote: Poultry : Hens, Is 5d ; roosters, Is 6d ; turkeys, 5s each ; butter, prime dairy, lOd ; eggs. Is 4d to Is 6d ; pork, 2d It ; cabbages, Id to 5d esch ; onions, l£d per lb ; leeks, 2d per bunch ; carrots, red, 4s per cwt; turnips, Id to 2d per bunch ; celery, 2d to 3d per bunch (sticks); potatoes, 6s per sack ; white carrots, 2s fid per sack. In the afternoon a lot of furniture, saddlery and sundries sold at fair prices. AUCKLAND MARKETS. Messes Donald a.\d Edenborough's Weekly Report.—Prices during the past week have been somewhat better, the retail trade having improved. Sydney fruic has not yet arrived in any great quantity. Apples : Supplies about the same, but of better quality ; choice dessert 8s to 8s 9d, medium 5s to 7s Cd, prime cookers 7s 9d to Ss, medium 5s to 6s 63, second class fruit 3s lOd to 4s lid. Oranges : Choice Tahiti 6d to 7d dozen, re-packed 6s per case. Pines : Sydney 9s to 10s 6d per case. Lemons : Market full ; 3s 9d to 5s 6d per case. Mauaarius: Choice 7s 3d per case. Passion fruit: Os to 10s 3d per case. Grapes: Choice, Is to Is 4d per lb. Pumpkins: Fair demand ; Is 6d to 2s 3d per cwt. Potatoes: The Hawera lauded about 4000 sacks, and piices buffered in consequence ; Oamaru £2 10s to £2 12s 6d, Timaru £2 5s to £2 10s, local £1 10s to £2 ss. Onions: Market overstocked; prime Southern £3 5s to £3 10s (a line of inferior quality sold at Is Id per cwt), good local £2 15s to £3 10s. Peanuts: lfd 40 2£d lb. Citrou melons : 2s to 3s 6d cwt. Walnuts : 5d to s_d lb. Eggs : Maiket easier; Is 7d to Is 8d per dozen. Cheese : Large size 4id to 4£d, loaf 5d per lb. Butter: Prime separator, bulk 8d to B_d, rolls 9d to 9_d, second grade 5d to 7d, prime keg?d to 7_d, pastry 4.1 to 54d per lb. Bacon : Southern Bd. local 5d to 63d per lb. Hams: Southern 8d to B_d, local 5d to 7d per lb. Oats: Best short feed Is lOd to 2s, Duns Is lid, Tartars (teed) 2s 3d per bushel.
