PIRONGIA.
Te Rau-a-moa-Waitomo Road.— There are now, I am informed, between 70 and 80 men employed in forming the road between Te Rau-a-mna and the Waitomo caves. Men have been arriving almost daily from town and proceeding to the work. The work is being done on the co-operative principle, and this end of the work is under the supervision of Mr George Kay. The Coming Election. —The friends of Mr Lang in this part of the electorate are not much alarmed at the rev. candidate who aspires to oust him out of his seat as our representative in Parliament. They doubt his genuiness. He preaches, “No Man can serve two Masters.” Now, to show his sincerity he should throw' up his appointment in his church (or chapel is it) befoie proceeding further. As it is it only looks as if ho had a “call” for the £240. Why, even the Liberal League who are so anxious to deprive their most energetic farmers of their farms will not accept him, as they do not believe in his disinterestedness.—(Own Correspondent).
