MAGISTRATE'S COURT, CAMBRIDGE.
Yesterday.—(Before Messrs T. Wells
aui W. Rout, Justices. Alleged Illegal Operation.—The case against Rosanua Halliday was further adjourned for a week, the principal witness still being unable to leave the hospital. C. Craig v. Bradley.—Claim, X's 17s 6d.—Mr Buckland for plaintiff.—Juden.ent for amount claimed aud costs, £1 18s 6d.
Throwing Potatoes.—Richard Kingdom was charged oi< the information of Emily Dillon, with assault, by throwing potatoes at her.—Mr Buckland appeared for the informant. hearing the evidence, accused was ordered to pay the costs of the action, £1 Is, and to come up for judgment when called upon.
Cattle Stealing.—Wiremu te Whetu was charged on the information of L B. Ewen with stealing a red-and-white steer from Tauwhare on 23rd March.— Mr W. F. Buckland appeared for the accused, who pleaded not guilty. The Court decided to deal with the case summaiily, the claim only being £2. A considerable amount of evidence was heard, after which the Bench said they found the case proved and considered It a most impudent robbery, and to mark their sense of it they sentenced accused to the maximum penalty they could inAct, viz., three months' imprisonment with hard labour.
