In their second innings the Australians made 360 for the loss of four wickets, when the stumps were drawn. FIRST I'KST MATCH. London, June 1. The first test match has commenced ou the Trentbridge ground, ftottingham. The Australians lost three wickets for 133. Iredule c Hayward b Hearne 6, Darling b Hearne 47, Noble b Rhodes 41, Gregory (not out) 21, Hill (not out) 12, extras 5. The weather was glorious, ground excellent, and condition of wicket fast. Two thousand were present at the opening of the game. Johns, McLeod and Worrall are standing out. Later. Three wickets are down for 160. Gregory 42. and Hill 19, are playing well together, scoring fast iu small hits, despite excellent fielding. At 132 Hayward replaced Hearne with the ball, but the batsmen continued to frustrate the bowlers. The telegraph lines from Nottingham are working wretchedly, causing long delays in messages.
