(by teleoraph.—press association). Auckland, Last Night. At the Board of Education the Chairman drew attention to the fact that it appeared that Wellington had secured £ISOO from the Government, for Technical Education purposes, while ~nd was not given any or only a very small sum. The £ISOO was paid out of unauthorised expenditure, and £9OO was also given to Dunedin. On the motion of Mr Farrell, it was resolved to write to the Colonial Treasurer, asking for information and explanation on this point, and to point out that there was a technical school here in great nee'i of financial assistenco
The Carters' dispute has been amicably settled by the Conciliation Board. Only oue small employer has refused to sign. At the Police Court, Wm. Whyte, alias Fleming, alias Marshall, was re mancled to Wanganui, on a charge of committing bigamy, by going through a form of marriage with Caroline Thomas, on June 17th, 1896, when already married .
