CHLORAL EXPLOSION.

THREE KILLED AND FOURTEEN INJURED. [united tress association] (BY KLECrRIC TELEGRAPH.—COPYBIOIIT) London, May 13. EICIHTY tons of chloral ignited and blew up Kurtz's chemicul works at St. Helen's, Lancashire. The explosion damaged the neighbouring vitriol works, releasing 1000 tons of vitriol, which in turn fired a gasometer. Three persons were killed and 14 injured. The concussion was felt four and ahalf miles away. All the windows in St. Helen's were destroyed. The damage is estimated at £IOO,OOO.
