PIRONGIA.
Volunteer Parade. The Pirongia Company of the Waikato Rides, No. '2, were inspected on Thursday, by Colonel Banks. There were EOine 40 volunteers present. Owing to the lute hour the Colonel arrived, there wan but a short mounted drill. In the evening there wis drill on foot in the hall. As a number of the troop has to come a considerable distance to attend these parades, the hours of the meeting and the drill they are instructed in are most unsatisfactory, and unless altered, will soon cause a great diminution in the number of the volunteers, if not a total break-up of the corps, as it is quite evident that the instruction received, if any, is of little use. Cur troop have not the advantage of the Hamilton corps in having aB their Commander such an experienced officer as Captain Keid ; on the contra ry all are recruits, entirely ignorant of military tactics. It is to be hoped that the authorities will make more satisfactory arrangements in future.—(Owrnj Correspondent). .
