The Volksraad has held a series of secret sittings. President Kruger is granting farms to indigent Boers on the ground that the Republic must provide for its defenders. Five thousand additional Transvaal TJitlandere have signed the petition to the Queen since it was announced that Uitlanders were largely signing a counter petition expressing confidence in the Boer Government. Capetown, May 11. It is expected that President Kruger and Sir Alfred Milner, Governor of Cape Colony, will shortly confer at Bloemfontein.
