RITUAL CONTROVERSY.

The Bishop of Hereford presided at nn important meeting attended by many members of the House of Commons, and by Evangelical, Broad, Moderate, and High Cburchmen. Sir Edward Clarke declared that there were no historical grounds for questioning tho authority of the Privy Council in regard to Church matters. Resolutions were adopted that the «' Presence " in the Lord's Supper was purely a spiritual one ; that the establishment of the confessional be condemned ; and that the jurisdiction of the Courts must be upheld.
