AUCKLAND NEWS.

(by telegraph—press association). Auckland, Last Night. The Colonial Sugar Refining Company raised to-day the various grades of refined sugars 10s a ton. Matters in connection with the equipment of the Calliope Dock by the Admiralty are being pushed forward in London by Mr Brigham. A cablegram received states that teaders for the machinery are to be opened on Wednesday, when the Admiralty will make a selection. The formalities in connection with the tender will require to be concluded before Mr Brigham leaves London for Auckland. A requisition is out asking Mr T. H. Witheford to stand for the City electorate.
