Concert. —The concert which followed the sports in connection with the Waip* Athletic Club's meeting, was one of the best that has been given hereforsome time, as not only were several of the old favourites present to assist but some new performers also kiudly assisted with their voices, which were far and away sweeter than the general average of amateur vocalists. The hall was filled to the doors with a most appreciative audience ; every item of the programme receiving an enthusiastic encore. Mr W. H. James presided and Miss Grace Finch acted as accompanyist at the piauo and played the opening overture most charmingly ; enthusiastic applause ,* song. "My Pipe And I," Mr E. H. Aubiu ; was a great success and had to be r< peatcd ; song, " A Warrior Bold," Mrßennie ; this gentleman's fine voice was much appreciated, the encore was quite undeniable ; song, " Queen of the Earth," by our old favourite, Mr G. Bowden, who had also to respond to an unauimous encore ; a recitation by the Chairman, from " Jerome,'' took immensely and was received with great applause ; song, " Children's Home," Miss Rennie ; this young lady has a sweet voice and sings most expressively, the applause was long and sustained for an encore, which was acceeded too.
