HAMILTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

The annual meeting of the Hamilton Football Club was held at the Hamilton Hotel, on TaMday evening. Mr Georce Edgeoumbe ((President) occupied the chair, and there was a good attendance of members. The Secretary (Mr A. J. Peacock) read the report for the season, 1898, which showed that the club had won the championship under the auspices of the Waikato Rugby Union, having played nine matches, won seven, drawn one, lost one, and having scored a total of 86 points to 12 points scored against. The report regretted the failure of members to pay their subscriptions, and urged on them to give this matter their attention in the future. —The statement of receipts and expenditure showed a credit balance of £1 7s, against which there were a few account* unpaid.—On the motion of the President, the report and balance-sheet were approved and adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows'.—President : Mr Geo. Edgecumbe (re-elected). Vice • Presidents : Dr. Brewis, Messrs T. Siade, L. O'Neill, C. J. W. Barton, J. W. H. Bright, J. S. Bond, H. E. Tiistram, F. VV. Lang, A E. Manning (all reelected), E. C. Purdie, R. J. Gwynne, A. B. Heather, J. W. Oldham, J. Smith and R. F. Sandes. Captain : Mr R. Pike. Vice-captain : Mr T. Kirk. Delegates to the Union : Messrs Pike and Kirk. Hon. Sec. : Mr G. Dodd. Selection Committee : Messrs Pike, Peacock, Gwynne and Heather. Management Committee : Messrs Pike, Kirk, Dodd, Williamson and Dean. There was considerable discussion over the personnel of the Selection Committee, and it was eventually decided to this year try a committee composed of nonplayers, with the exception of the captain.

Hearty votes of thanks were accorded to the outgoing officers. At the invitation of the President the health of the club was drunk in bumpers, coupled with the name of Mr C. Speight, to whom, Mr Edgecumbe said, the success of the club had been greatly due. Mr Speight suitably replied. It was decided to open the season on Saturday next with a practice match.

A meeting of the Hamilton 11. Football Club will be held in the Hamilton Hotel on Saturday evening next, at 8 o'clock.
