FRANCE IN AFRICA.

In view of the old standing difficulty between Turkey and France in reference to the Tunis and Tripoli boundary, and the objections which have been raised to the hinterland clause of the agreement between these two States, M. Barrere, French Am* bassador at Koine, has been ordered to assure Italy that if the Tripolitan question is ever discussed France's attitude will not be hostile to Italian interests iu that portion of Africa. He is also to assure Italy that France has no designs on Tripoli. M. Hanotaux has suggested that the Chamber of Deputies should appoint a commission to deal with the whole question of the French-African Empire. ____________
