The Waikato Argus Office, Friday. MARKET PRICES CURRENT. Faotory butter, per lb—New Zealand Dairy Association : Wholesale, lOd to 10£d; retail, Is. Cheese (farm-made), per lb : Wholesale, 4d ; retail, 6d. Factory cheese, per lb : Wholesale, 4£d; retail, 6d. Onions, per lb : Wholesale, Id; retail, Id. Table Potatoes (local), per cwt: Wholesale, 2s 6d ; retail, 2s 9d to 3s. Per ton (local): Wholesale, 30s ; retail, 40s. Sharps, per 1001 b: Wholesale, 5s ; retail, 5s 6d. Bran, per 1001 b : Wholesale, 4s ; retail, 4s Bd. Owing to yesterdiy being a holiday, we are unable to give local quotations for wheat, chaff and maize; Auckland prices will be found in the auctitneers' reports published below. MESSRS McNICOL AND CO.'S OHAUPO SALE. At Messrs McNicol and Co.'s sale, on Tuesday last, over 300 head of cattle were yarded, most of them of a good class and in fresh condition. Not many dairy cows offered. There was a good muster of grown steers, but there was only a moderate demand, and several pens were passed. Owing to the continued dry weather, there is not much animation in the cattle market. The following are the quotations :—Dairy cows, from £3 4s to £3 5s ; good yearling steers, 33s 6d ; mixed yearlings, 253 ; grown steers, in fresh condition, £4 12s ; 15-month old steers, 35s ; three-year-old steers, £3 9s ; three-year-old plump steers (killable), £4 7s 6d ; empty cows, £2 7s 6d to £2 12s 6d ; tat cows, £3 ss. (Own Correspondent). AUCKLAND MARKETS. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Retort.—Grain, horsefeed, seeds : With the exception of oaten chaff a steady demand has prevailed. Supplies of prime oats and maize have been short, but of other lines ample for requirements. We sold maize on wharf at 2s 9d bushel, ex store 3s ; feed oats, Is lOd to 2s ; dun oats, Is 9d ; bran, £3 ton ; oaten chaff, £2 to £2 5s ; bonemeal (Triangle), £6 ; superphosphates (Lawes'), £5 10s ; Kangaroo Island guano, £3 10s ; red clover seed, 6Jd lb ; white clover, 8d ; cowgrass, 6|d ; cocksfoot, 5s 9d to 7s bushel; ryegrass, 4s 3d to 5s 6d. Horses : A large number were brought forward, and there was an improved demand at prices showing an upward tendency. The Durham Yards were well filled on Friday, and there was a large attendance, a shipment from Sydney being the infraction. Heavy draughts sold at from £l2 to £26 each ; medium draughts, £lO to £l6 ; light harness, £3 to £l3 10s ; unbroken colts and fillies, from £8 10s to £lB. The trotting mare Judah realised 60 guineas, and the racing pony Fair Nell 16 guineas. Cattle : At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday, dairy and Btore stock were penned in usual numbers. Fat stock was yarded in fully average quantities, and the quality of the ship-borne cattle was excellent. Beef, if anything, was a shade easier in value. Fat steers brought from 14s to 17s 1001 b ; cows, 13s to 16s. Fat steers brought from £3l7s 6d to £8 7s 6d each ; fat cows, £2 17s 6d to £5 10s ; dairy cows sold at from £3 5s to £5 10s ; dry cows, £1 12s to £2 3s. Sbeep : The Newmarket Yard 3 were fairly filled on Tues day, but showed no improvement in values. We quote : Fat wethers, from 8s 9d to lis 9d each ; fat ewes, 6s 9d to 9s 6d ; lambs (plentiful) sold at from 6s 9d to 10s 3d. Pigs sold at from lis 3d to £1 8s each.

Messes Alfbed Bockland and Sons' Weekly Repobt.—At the Haymarket oaten sheaves brought Is 6d to Is 9d; meadow hay, 2s 6d; pressed hay, 3s 6d ; Chesterfield guano, 3s 6d ; chaff, 2s 6d and 23 9d ; bran, 3s 6d ; sharps, 4s 6d ; Bigg's Bunyarra bonedust, 6s 6d cwt; Dun oats, la 8d ; white tartars, 2s 6d ; maize, 2 lid ; Italian rye, 3s 6d ; wheat, 2s 6d ; Poverty Bay ryegrass, 5s 6d ; cocksfoot, 6s 6d ; Canterbury ryegrass, 4s; maize, 2s bushel; cowgrass, 7d ; white clover, 9d ; red top, 8d; alsyke, 7d ; red clover, 6d lb ; maize on wharf, 2s bushel. On Tuesday hides were firm at an advance over last week's values. Ox hides from 3|d tosJd ; cow hides, 3fd to 4Jd ; calfskins, 3jd to 3Jd lb ; cow hair, la ; horse hair, Is 4d lb; tallow, 12s 6d to 15s cwt; sheep, pelts, Is to 3s 8d ; lamb pelts, Is to Is 6d each ; lambs' wool, 4Jd; fleece wool, 4|d to 4fd ; locks, ljd to 2id lb. At Kemuera on Thursday, dairy cattle were in demand. Heifers, near calving, brought from £3 10s to £6 : cows, £4 23 6d to £5 10s each. Store cattle, mostly grown steers, were at lower values, and some withdrawn. Calves, in usual number, 60 sold, were at late values. Fat cattle, mostly of medium quality, were in average supply. Cows and second-quality steers,at lower values.; well fatted steers kept their price ; prices were from 14s to 17s 1001 b ; steers were from £4 10s to £8 5a ; cows, £2 10s to £6 each ; 220 sold. Sheep, in less supply than usual, were slightly better worth. Fat wethers were from 8s 3d to 12s 9d ; ewes, 7s to 10s each ; store ewes, 2s 9d to 6s; wethers, 5s 9d ; 1250 sold. Fat lambs, in Bhort supply, were better worth, and brought from 7s 9d to lis 3d each. Pigs, in short supply, all of a useful class, brought from 18s to to 32s each.
