TE AROHA JOCKEY CLUB. FIRST DAY. The first day of the Te \roha Jockey Club's annual racr-s, on Tuesday last, was a most successful one. The weather was all that could be desired, and no doubt thi .<, to a large extent, accounted for the presence of so many ot the fair sex. The course, although rather dusty, was in good order, and the fields were fairly large, although the finishes in some cases were not as interesting as might have been wished. The officials of the Club, under Mr "Nat" Ferguson, as Secretary, did their utmost to make the meeting a success, and they certainly attained their object. In the absence of Mr A. J. Storey, Mr R. Brennan acted as starter, and in most instances effected good and even starts. Mr W. H.Herries, M.H.R., was in the judge's box, and his awards all met with approval. Messrs Bloomfield and Company had the totalisator, and during the afternoon £775 was put through, the best dividend being £6 6s, on Korowai, in the Te Aroha Jockey Club Handicap. Clement's b g Libeller, 9st 71b 2 Messrs R. aud R Duder's b m Anita, 10st 7ib 3 Won by a bare length. Dividend, £1 17s. Te Aroha Jockey Club Handicap, of 45sovs. Distance, 1 mile. Mr T. B. Bel's b m Korowai, Bst ... 1 Mr S. Vercoe's blk m Lobelia, 7st 111 b 2 Mr A. S. Caulton's b m Porangi Potae, 7st9lb 3 From a straggling start, Korowai shot to the front and was never caught, winning easily. Dividend, £6 6s. Pony Handicap, of losovs Distance, furlongs. Mr R. Hanuon's ch m Winnie, 9st 9st 1 Mr A. Watson's b g Radical, 7st ... 2 Mr G. Eraser's ch m. Gipsy, 7?t ... 3 Winnie took command at the start, and led into the straight, where Radical put in a bold claim, but was unable to catch the mare, who won by half-a-length. Dividend, £1 10s. Handicap Hack Race, of lOsovs. Distance, 1 mile. Mr R. Plummer's b m Pickpocket, 7st 7lb 1 Mr G. Eraser's ch m Gipsy, 7st ... 2 Mr A. B. Cassidy's b m Reporter, 7st 101 b ... 3 Pickpocket made regular hacks of the others, winning from start to finish as he liked. Dividend, £2 Is. Flyino Stakes, of 16sovf. Dividend, 5J furlongs. Mr G. W. Vercoe's b m Repetition, 7st2lb 1 Mr Jas. Hill's blk m Blairina, Bst 71b 2 Mr R. Hannon's ch m Nithmount, 6st 71b 3 Blairina led into the straight, where Repetition closed up and fighting every inch of the way, won by a couple of lengths. THAMES VALLEY JOCKEST CLUB MEETING.
