In connection with the presentation' of a memorial by the English Church to the Queen and Parliament affirming the Church's independence of Parliament and the Courts on matters of doctrine and ceremonial, Lord Halifax, president of the Union, said that disestablishment and disendowment were preferable to surrender of doctrine. The memorial was presented by a gathering of 700 delegates, representing 260 branches of the English Church Union, The press reprobates the memorial as untimely and indiscreet. .
