Factory cheese, per lb: Wholesale, 4Jd to 4}d ; retail, 6d to 6}d. Onions, per lb : Wholesale, Id to lsd; retail, ljd to 2d. Table Potatoes (local), per cwt: Wholesale, 3s to 4s; retail, 3s 6d to ss. MR W. J. HUNTER'S SHEEP FAIR. Mb W. J. Hunter reports having held a very succeßsful Sheep Fair at Ohaupo ou Wednesday, the 15th inst. About 23,000 sheep were yarded, mostly in good condition. Buyers were in attendance from Auckland, Waiuku, Thames, Paeroa, and all parts of the Waikato. Competition was brisk, and only one line of ewes from Rukuhia failed to pass under the hammer, and they were sold the next day privately. About 260 rams were yarded. For Shropshires and Leicester there waß keen competition, and all sold. A fair number of good Lincolns sold well. The Bale finished at 6.30, and buyers expressed much satisfaction at the sale being concluded in one day. AUCKLAND MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agbnoy Company (Limited) report :—Auckland Wool Stores, February 15. We had an average catalogue at our sale on Tuesday, and prices for all lines were firm. Hides : Picked ox realised 6d to 6|d ; stout, 5d to 5f d ; light and medium, 3|d to 4f d ; cow, 3|d to 3W ; picked, to 4Jd ; kip, 3Jd to 3|d ; calf, sound, 3£d to 4d ; stags, 2fd to 2Jd. Sheepskins : Salted pelts, Is 2d to Is 9d ; lamb's, Is 3d to Is lOd ; dry pelts, 8d to Is Id ; lamb's, Is to Is 6d. Tallow : 15s to 163 cwt. Tails : Is 5d dozen. Horse and cow hair firm at late rates. Wool: The market remains firm with a slightly hardening tendency. We will offer a moderate catalogue at our sale on 2lßt inst. Maiza : An unexpected order was received from Sydney this week, which cleared out all the shipments to haud, consequently the local quotation of 2s 8d ex wharf is only nominal, 2s lOd to 3s being asked for store lines. Oats : The market somewhat easier. Sales are being made at 2s c.i.f. Chaff : Selling at £2 to £2 2s 6d at railway. Messrs Alfred Buckland & Sons' Weekly Rhport.—At the Haymarket auction oaten sheaves brought from Is 3d to 2s 3d ; meadow hay, 2s cwt ; straw, 15s to £1 3s load ; ex store maize, 2s lid : oats, 2s 3d ; wheat, 2s lid bushel ; Chesterfield guano, £3 10s; Bunyarra bonedust, £6 103; lucerne hay, £5 ss; pressed meadow hay, £4 5s ton ; maize on wharf, 2s 8d bushel. On Friday horses yarded numerously. The young unbroken horses were eagerly competed for, and obtained satisfactory prices. Medium draught brought from £l4 to £l7 ; hacks, £5 5s to £lO ; strong farm horses, £l7 to £2l; medium strenght, £7 to £l2 ;63 horses sold. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cows of medium quality fairly represented. Prices ranged from £4 to £4 7s 6d each. Store cattle, in moderate numbers, at late values. Calres numerous (70 sold), mostly medium weights, scarcely kept late values. Fat cattle, in average number, were lower in price about Is 1001 b. Prioes of steers were from 15s to 18s 1001 b. Steers were from £5 5a to £lO each ; cows, £3 10s to £5. 244 sold. Sheep, in usual number (1200 yarded), were at last week's values. Fat wethers were from 8s to lis 3d each ; ewes, 7s to 9s. Lambs numerous; 650 yarded ; a large number stores. Fat lambs were from 6s 6d to lis each ; store lambs, 3s 3d to 5s 6d. Pigs, in Bhort supply (48 yarded), sold satisfactorily.
Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Report.—Grain, seeds, horsefeed : The supply has been ample for requirements, which were moderate, and sales were effected at practically the previous week's values. We quote : Maize, on wharf, 2a 7Jd, ex store 2s lOd bushel; feed oat 3, 2s 6d ; bran, £3 ton ; oaten ohaff, at station, £2 5s to £2 10s. Horses : Fully an average number was brought forward, and a fair demand prevailed, sales being effected at figures showing little or no alterations in value. Quite the usual numbers were submitted by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. Bidding was brisk at times, and most of the lots were oleaied. We quote: Heavy draught, £l2 5s to £23 each ; medium draught, £8 to £ls 10s ; light harness, £3 to £lO 10s ; hacks, £3 10s to £9 9s. Cattle : At the Newmarket Yards on Tuesday, dairy and store stock were yarded in full numbers, and Bold at last week's rates. We quote : Dairy cows, from £3 5s to £5 7s 6d each ; grown steers, £4 17s 6d. Beef was yarded in more than usual numbers, and sold at from 16s to 18s 1001 b ; cow beef, 14s to 16s. Fat oxen Bold from £5 2s 6d to £8 7s 6d each ; fat cows, £3 5s to £5 12a 6d. Sheep: The Newmarket Yards were fairly well filled on Tuesday, and advanced in prices on last week. Fat wethers brought from 8s 9d to 13a each ; fat ewes, 6s 6d to 10s 3d ; lambs (plentiful) sold at 5s 6d to 10s. Pigs, plentiful : Porkers sold at from 15s to £1 3s each ; weaners, 4s 6d to 14s 9d.
