THE PHILIPPINES.

BOMBARDMENT OF ILOILO. [united press association ] (bv electric telegraph.—copyright). Hongkong, February 14. News has been received that the American troops bombarded and captured Iloilo on Saturday last. The insurgents fired the town before evacuating, but the Americans extinguished the flames before they had a good hold, and the damage to the property of foreigners was only slight. The hostile action of the insurgents compelled the bombardment of the place after they had been summoned to surrender.

There were no casualties on the American side, but the enemy lost heavily.
