THE NICARAGUA CANAL

The American Inter-State Committee of the House of Representatives has adopted Mr Hepburn's Nicaraguan Canal Bill in an amended form, in place of the Bill recently adopted by the Senate. Mr Hepburn's Bill authorises the purchase from the Nicaraguan and Costa Rica Governments of the requisite land for the construction of the canal at a cost of 116,000,000 dollars. It does not mention the Clayton»Bulwer Treaty.
