The St. James' Gazette says it will be a terrible disappointment if the Australians leave uuused the unparalleled opportunity to create a beautiful and stately capital. It suggests it should be named Britannia. February 5. The Marquis of Lome has written a short English poem entitled, " Australia Federa." Melbourne, February 3. The Premiers have been interviewed and have all expressed themselves satisfied and hopeful respecting the Bill passed by Mr Kingston. They have reserved the right to take the referendum during the elections in April prior to New South Wales to save expense. Mr Chamberlain has cabled to Lord Brassey and to the Premiers congratulations on behalf of the Imperial Government upon the result of the Federation Conference. In reply to the English Government's congratulations on the result of the Federal Conference, Lord Brassey, at the request of the Premiers, has expressed to Mr Chamberlain their high appreciation of the Government's congratulations. (Received Febiuury 0, 9.5 a.m.) Sydney, February 6. Mr Reid will lose no time in plaoing the Federal Bill before the public. Probably the referendum will be taken in March. Melbourne, February 6. The Age says the amendments made by the Premiers in the Federal Bill are for the most part an advanoe in a Liberal direction.
