HAMILTON AND CLAUDELANDS.

TO THE EDITOB. Sib,—The '* Immortal Willie " asked «« What's in a name?" I notice by Saturday's Aroos that the Hamilton Borough Council have replied "Confusion !" and consequently decided to approach the authorities re altering the name of the Hamilton East station. As the proposed change would please some and injure none, I suppose it will be given effect to in due course. There is, however, another matter which I think could be opened up at the present time, and if brought to a successful issue would prove a Rreat boon to residents in Hamilton West and Claudelands, and that is the opening of the railway bridge for pedestrians. As a working-man residing at No. 11 often get work at Claudelands, and it seems to me the height of absurdity that I have to leave home at 7.15 a.m. in order to go round by the traffic bridge, when by crossing the railway bridge I could be at my work in about ten minutes. Mine is not an, exceptional case. The proposed work could be carried out with a small outlay, and I have no doubt if the Borough Council and Kirikiriroa Road Board were to jointly approach the authotities the necessary permission and assistance would be readily forthcoming, and private subscriptions by those most interested would cover a fair proportion of the cost. —I am, etc., Pedestrian.
