WAINGARO.

Pou>.—On Boxing-Lay, the 26th nit., the Waingaro and Rata Clabs had a match on the Waingaro ground at Mr Vernon's. The players for Waingaro -\vere Messrs Hewett (captain), WVSeavill, H. and F. Bull, and the Rata Club was represented by Messrs T. Wilson, junr. (captain), L. Allen, A. Wilson and H. Wilson. The match, which resulted in a win for the Rata Club by four goals to two, was played in a continuous rain, both spectators and players getting thoroughly drenched On the last day of 1898 it was intended to have a return match on the Rata Club's grouud at Mr Picken's, and both clubs were fiirly represented, but on account of the absence of the Waingaro ciptaiu no match was played. Several good scratch matches were indulged in. Afternoon tea was dispensed by Mrs T. Wilson, and a most enjoyable afternoon was spent, the weather beiug peifect. Wedding Bells.—On Wednesd iy, the 2Sth ult., E men garde Catherine, the third daughter of Mr J. K. McDonald, of Waingaro, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Wa'ter Stanley Carter by the Rev. J. M. Mitchell at the residence of the bride's parents in the piestnee of a goodly number of relatives and friends. The bride was given away by her father, and was attended by ber Bisters and cousins as bridesmaids. After the certmony luncheon was partaken of by all present, aud soou after the happy pair left, amidst.showers of rice and rose leaves, for Ngaruawahia, en route to the Thames, their future home. The wedding presents were uumeroua and useful. The guests remained to a dance, which was kept up till grey dawn, when " Auld Lang Syne " and *' God Save the Queen " were sung, and all weut home, having thoroughly enjoyed themselves.— (Own Correspondent).
