SUPPOSED SUICIDE.
On Tuesday Mr John Rubbiek Stych, licensee of the Avon dale Hotel, Auckland, was found dead in the cellar with a gunshot wound in the head. It appears that deceased was last eeen alive about five o'clock in the afternoon. At this time his son was conversing with Mr Boylan, who had previously had an interview with deceased in one of the rooms, who subsequently went outside by the back door. Mr John Abbott, who had also called, asked for Mr Stych. Mrs Stych asked her son if he had seen him, as she did not know where he was. Mr Abbott said he thought deceased had gone to the back of the house. Arthur Stych said ho would go and see. He proceeded to the cellar and was horrified at seeing his father stretched out upon the cellar floor with a wound in his head. He returned immediately and exclaimed, "He is shot in the cellar." All then went to the cellar aud found the mau apparently dead. Examination showed that the muzzle of the gun had been held close to the head when fired.
