CAMBRIDGE ROAD BOARD.
A meeting of the above Board was held in the Cambridge Public Hall on Saturday. There were present: Messrs C. Day (Chairman), J. Taylor and W.H. Thomas. New Members.—Aletfcer u-asreceived from the Estates Company asking to have Mr J. McCaw's name placed upon the roll as their representative.—That takes away Mr Main's qualification and his seat becomes vacant.—Mr H. Ferguson had not attended the requisite number of times, he having been absent for four consecutive meetings, so his seat is also vacant. The Returning Officer was instructed to take the necessary steps to fill the vacancies, and we understand Messrs McCaw and May will probably be nominated as members of the Board. The Ranger. Mr Thos. Pennell wrote resigning his office, as ranger to the Board.—lt was thought there had been a great improvement since the ranger had been appointed, and it was resolved to ask him to withdraw his resignation. FIKANCE.—At date the Board was in credit to the extent of £77 10s 10d.— That was in a great measure due to the £7O lately received from the County Council. The Main Road. —The Chairman stated the main road was getting into a bad state.—After considerable discussion it was decided to re-form and gravel that portion lying between Tor View (Mr Ward's) and Pickering's Corner. - The Chairman and Mr Taylor will inspect the road and prepare the necessary specifications, after which tenders will be called, returnable at the February meeting, it having been arranged to let the January" meeting lapse. Accounts.—The following accounts were passed for payment:—D. Stewart, £1 16s ; T. Pennell, £4 18s ; W. Souter and Co,, lis; the Clerk, £6 ss.—That concluded the business.
