MR J. G. WARD.

INTERVIEW IN SYDNEY. fDNITED press association.] (by electric telegraph.—copyright.) Sydney, Dscember 19. The Hod. J. G. Ward, ex-New Treasurer, being interviewed, said that New Zealand, was never more prosperous in almost every branch of industry and commerce. The harvest promises to be one of the best and largest ever known. The so-called Socialistic legislation, he said, had been the result of wise observation, and, so far as could be judged, had all gone right. Li this connection he spoke highly of the results of conciliation and early closing legislation. He considered the Old Age Pension scheme would have a good effect and add to the health and tone of the social fabric generally, and so prove in time to be a remedy for its own apparent defects. Though New Zealanders took much interest in Federation feeling was generally in favour of keeping out of any Australian Federal scheme.
