Industrial -Exhibition.—A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Industrial Exhibition was held on Thursday evening last. The Chairman stated that all the accounts were closed and audited Binue last meeting. One or two small accouuts which had been overlooked had come in and been paid. A suitable souvenir, iu the shape of a lady's gold bracelet suitably engraved, had been purchased as a present to the Secretary, Miss I. Vause. The final balance-sheet as passed by the auditor showed a credit balance of £lB Is 4d to be handed over to the Libraiy fund. On the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Barker, a vote of thanks was passed to the judges, stewards, musicians, and all those ladies and gentlemen who assisted in any way, and also to the auditor. Libraey Committee.—A meeting of the Library Committee was held immediately after the meeting of the Industrial Committee. There were present: Messrs J. P, Vause (Chairman), J. L. Mandcno, C. Barker, J, F. Andrew and T. Gresham. Ihc report of the subcommittee appointed to carry out the Industrial Exhibition was as follows : The Young People's Industrial Exhibition was held on the 9th November last, and your executive have /great pleasure in being able to report that the affair was a great success in every way, thanks to the hearty co-operation and valued assistance of those iadies and gentlemen who acted as judges and stewards and iu other ways, and to the practical support extended to the affair by settlers and Auckland business linns and others. The result exceeded the executive committee's most sanguine hopes, and they are able to report a surplus of £lB Is 4d, after deducting £2 2s voted by the executive to the secretary in recognition of her valuable services. The balance is offered to the Library Committee, to be applied to the general fund. The report of the committee was adopted. Mr Mandeno then, at the request of the Chairman, presented Miss Vause, the Secretary of the exhibition, with a gold bracelet with the following engraved upon it: " Ida Mizpah Vause, from Executive Committee. Souvenir of Industrial Exhibition, Te Awamutu, IS9S." Mr Mandeno congratulated Miss Vause on the success of the exhibition, The young lady responded in suitable terms. Mr Gresham gave notice to move at the next meeting, that a sum of £5 be set abide out of the surplus to provide certificates similar to those given by the Cambridge Young People's Industrial Exhibition in 1894. The Chairman reported that since last meeting the outside of tlio building had been painted and other repairs effected. The Chairman then moved in accorduucc witli notice : " That that portion of a resolution passed at the July meeting, which prevented the meeting room being let for any business purposes whatever connected with the library, be rescinded." The resolution was seconded by Mr Gresham and carried. The voting being. For : The Chairman and Messrs Gresham and Barker. Against : Mr Andrew. Mr Mandeno, previous to the vote being taken, having left in order to attend au~ other meeting. It was decided to at once order £2O worth of books from Mr Mudie. A circular was received from j the Government re subsidies to country libraries. The proposal, it is hoped, will lead to a substantial addition to the ibrary funds.—(Owu Correspondent).
