Spain has asked for the expulsion of Don Carlos from Venice. The Sir George Grey Memorial Committee have asked for a site in St. Paul's Cathedral. Three hundred and twenty thoupand copies of Bismarck's biography have been sold in Germany. The claim for salvage on account of the fire on board the b.s. Te Koa, while on the voyage from London to Auckland, amounts to £11,750. The Home Life Insurance Buildings, Broadway, New York, were burned today. The damage is estimated at 1,000,000 dollars. Mr G. Cousins, one of the representatives of lowa, has introduced a Bill in Congress to provide for the establishment of a pohi standard. The British newspapers strongly resent the scheme of M. Delombre, the French Minister for Commerce, to establish schools for natives at Khartoum aid Fashoda. Mills and Miss Lyon have been di-v'uirged. They were charged with the manslaughter of Harold Frederic, the novelist, who had beeu undergoing Christian Scientist treatment just before his death.
