WAIKATO FRUITGROWERS' ASSOCIATION.

The annual meeting of the above was held at Oliaupo on Tuesday last. Present : Messrs Farrer (in the chair), Johns, Potts, Ohye, Germarm, Turney Gresham, and several others.

Mr Ohye (the Secretary) read the bal-ance-sheet as follows :—Receipts : Subscriptions from members, £S 17s. Expenditure : Contribution to Auckland Union, £3 : exchange and stamps, Is 6d ; advertisements and telegrams, £1 6s ; stationery, etc., 3s 6d ; secretary's salary, £2 10s, leaving a credit balance of £1 16s.—The balaucc-sheet was adopted. The deficiency in Mr John's expenses to Wellington was made up in the room. On the motion of Mr Johns, all the old officers were re-elected, viz. :—President : Mr Farrer. Vice-Presidents : Messrs Turney and Forrest. Executive Committee : Messrs Sharp, Johns, A. Karl, P. Karl, J. T. Edwards, Germanu, Ryburn, F. Potts and Krippner. Mr Ohye was re-elected secretary and was thanked for his past services. Mr M. S Laurie was elected a member of the Association.

Re the next horticultural show* which is intended to be held at Te Awamntu, Mr Ohye said the residents of that township did not appear to take very much interest in the show.—Mr Johns said he would undertake to fiud out the feelings of the people relative to the matter, and if they did not take the necessary interest the show would be held in Hamilton, if such was the wish of the Hamilton people. A letter was road from Messrs Tooman and Co., asking the meeting for an expression of opinion re his business transactions with the Association. —It was decided that the secretary reply to Mr Tooman, stating that his busiuess relations with the Association had been satisfactory, and that his appointment be continued.

Several other letters were read and dealt with.

Re spraying, Mr Gresham suggested that a sprayer be bought by the Association at a cost of £ls and given in charge of a competent man, to be hired out to those who required it.—Mr Johns said that Mr Kirkham already had one, of the size required, and possibly arrangements n-ight be made with him. The I'rcsident, Mr Farrer, presented the Association with a valuable work on spraying, which will be lent to thoae who require it.—The meeting thanked the President for his gift.

All those present then, paid jn their subscriptions, and i vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
