His Excellency the Governor and suite left Hamilton by special train on Saturday at 9 o'clock. His Worship the Mayor, Mrs Slade, and Mr Barton, Town Clerk, were at the station, and His Excellency personally thanked the Mayor for the reception accorded to himself and Lady Ranfurly. During the day the Mayor received the following letter from Capt. Alexander :-■ Hamilton, 26th November, 1898. Sib,—l am directed by His Excellency to forward to you and to the inhabitants ol Hamilton his best thanks for the hearty reception accorded to him as Hsr Majesty's representative yesterday in your borough. It pave Lady Kaufurly and himself much pleasure to have been able to visit your town and district. They much enjoyed the performance given by the Hamilton Comedy Company last night. Yours faithfully, Dudley Alexander, Captain, Private Secretary. His Worship the Mayor, Hamilton. In our report in last i<=sue, in connection with the Governor's reception, we omitted to state that the members of the Wai'kato Mounted Rifles and the Hamilton Band dined at the Royal Hotel, Hamilton East, where Mrs Hamilton had provided a tempting repast. Before leaving, the company lined up outside and gave three ringing cheers for the popular hostess.
