On Wednesday, 23rd inst., Messrs McNicol and Co. held a clearing sale of live stock, fanning implements, and household furniture at Kauroa, Raglan. There was a large attendance, buyers being present from all parts of the Raglan district and Waikato, and on the whole excellent prices were realised. Many articles of furniture brought more thau cost price. The following were the prices :—Cows and calves, £2 6s; IS months steers, 25s ; 18 months heifers, 24a ; bull, 25s ; crossbred ewes and lambs, 6s 6d ; fat sheep, 10s ; medium draught horses, £4 15s to £6 ; hack, £2 10s; ladies hack, £5 10s; cob, £2 10s ; Berkshire sow, £3 5s ; plough, £2 10s ; Oliver plough, 225; disc harrows, £7 6s ; tine harrows, £2 ss; Planet J.R. cultivator, 355; dray, £4; waggon, £2;sidesaddle,£2 10s ; men's do., 30s to £2 ; cheffonier, 32s 6d ; chest of drawers, 26s 6d; ditto, 32s 6d and 22s ; bedsteads, 25s ; ditto, 183 and 10s ; couch, 10s ; child's cot, 8s 6d ; bentwood chairs, 5s 6d ; washstands,_7s 6d ; wicker easy chairs, 7s 6d to 15s; looking glasses, from 2s 6d to 4s 6d ; washing machine, £1 5s ; wringer, 7s 6d ; carpet square, 26s ; Koir matting, 12s.— At the Te Mata Yards, on the following day, the yards were filled with a lot of well-bred quiet cattle, principally steers, and with one or two exceptions, everything was cleared :—Yearling steers, 25s to 32s 6d ; one and a-half to two-year steers, 40s to 50s ; three-year-old steers, £3 5s to £3 12s 6d ; empty cows, 35s to 50s ; two-year-old heifers, 30s to 40s ; yearlings and one and half year-old heifers, 20s to 32s 6rb*small hoggets, 6s; ewes and lambs, 6s 6a;- (Own Correspondent). . AUCKLAND MARKETS. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report:—Auckland Wool Stores, 23rd November.—We cleared a large catalogue of hides, skins, tallow, wool, etc., at our sale on Tuesday, and found prices firm all round. Hides: We quote prime stout ox s|d to 6|d ; heavy stout, 5d to b\d ; light and medium, 3£d to 4ftl; cow, 3Jd to 3£d ; kip, 3d to 3jd ; calf, 3d to 4d. Sheepskins : Extra large, 5s to 6s 6d ; large, 3s to 4s 6d ; small and medium, 2s 3d to 4s; lambs, Is to Is 4d ; pelts, lOd to Is. Tallow was in better demand, at 13s to 15s 6d cwt. Horse hair, Is to Is 3d lb; cow hair, B£d to lOd ; tails, Is 4d dozen. Wool: Fleece, in bags, etc., 5d to s£d ; pieces, 2-Jd to 3Jd ; dead, 3d to 4|d ; locks, £d to Ifd. Oats : No change to report from last week's quotations of 2s 3d and 2s 4jd, ex store, tor •' B " and " C " grades. Maize is showing a strong upward tendency. Lines arriving in the earlier part of the week Bold at 2s 8d ex wharf, but the price has since firmed up to 2s 9d. Chaff: Very slow of sale at £4 at rail. Messrs. Hunter and Nolan's Report.—Horse feed, seed, grain, etc. : Maize is selling on wharf at 2s 8d per bushel, ex store 2a lOd ; feed oats, 2s 8d ; bran, £4 ton ; chaff, at station, £4, ex store £4 7s 6d to £4 10s ton. Horses : At the Durham Yards, on Friday, horses were brought forward in large numbers, but bidding was slow, although most lots changed hands. Heavy draughts realised from £ls to £24 7s 6d ; medium ditto, £lO 17s 6d to £l7 12s 6d ; hacks and light harness horse 3, £3 17s 6d to £lO 12s 6d ; weeds, 15s to £3 7s 6d ; a tax cart brought £lB ; spring cart, £2 10s. Wool, hides, skins and tallow : A good catalogue was gone through, and late rates were maintained. Stout ox sold at from 4d to 6|d ; steers and medium ox, 3jd to 3|d ; good conditioned cow, to 4d ; calfskins, 2Jd to ton ; tallow, 13s 6d to 14s 9d ; rough fat, lb ; horsehair, Is 2d lb ; sheepskins sold at from 2s 5d to 4s lid ; pelts, 9d to is Id ; lambskins, Is 3d to Is 9d ; wool in bags and dumps, was pitched iu large quantities, and sold at from 2|d to s|d. Cattle: At the Newmarket Yards ou Tuesday, dairy and store stock were yarded in full numbers, and sold at late rates. Beef, in average quantities, was a little easier in price. Fat oxen made from 17a to 19s 1001 b ; cows, 16s to ISs ; fat steers sold at from £4 17s 6d to £8 10s; cows, £3 5s to £7 2s 64 ; dairy cows sold at from £3 5s to £4 17s fid ; grown steers, £3 5s to £4 7s 6d ; 2 to 3-year-old ditto, £2 to £3 7s 6d ; yearlings, £1 to £1 19s ; empty cows, £1 17s to £3 5s ; fat cows, £4 to £5 7s 6d ; calves, 10s to £1 os. Sheep were yarded in barely average numbers, and the quality, as a rule, was not first-class. Wethers iu their wool made from 10s 3d to 15s 9d ; shorn ditto, 83 3d to 13s Gel; ewes. 7s to 13s 6d. Lambs iu very large quantities, sold at from 6s 9(1 to 12s 9d. Piss: Porkers sold at from 12s 9d to £1 17s (id. Messrs Alfred Bucklanu & Sox's Weekly Report.—At the Haymarkot store maize has sold for 2s lOd and 2a ]ld ; wheat, 3s 8d ; oats, 2s 5d to 2s 7d bushel; lucerne hay, £5 ; pressed meadow hay, £4 12s 6d ; oaten chaff, £4 10s j Bunyarra bonedust, £6 10s ; blood manure, £4 10s; Chesterfield guano, £3 10s ton ; maize on wharf, 2s 9d to 2s lOd bushel. On Friday the largest muster of horses hitherto yarded in "the Albertstreet Yards met a steady demand. Draught stock at an improvement over late values. Light horses at moderate values. Heavy draught brought irom £27 to £34; medium draught, £l2 to £l9; light harness, £6 to £lO each ; a buggy and harness, £9 17s 6d ; horse, cart and harness, £l3 10s ; spring carts, from £5 to £l3 each. On Tuesday hides, sold in increased quantity, kept last week's values. Ox hides were from 3fd te 4id ; steer hides, 3d to 3Ad ; cow hides, 3d to 3|d; calfskins, 3&d to 3|d lb ; tallow, 12s 6d to 15s; bones, 3s 9d cwt; fat, Id to ljd lb. Sheepskins at late values brought up to 4s 2d each ;
lambskins, Is to Is sd; pelts, Sd to Is ; wool in bags, 4d to sfd ; washed pieces, fid ; locks and pieces, from 1 d to Sid lb. At Remuero, on Thursday, dairy cows were yarded in usual numbers, and met with a better inquiry than for some time. Those at profit weie from £3 to £6 each. Store cattle, fairly represented, sold freely at an advance on last week's values. Fresh-conditioned dry cows were from £2 to £3 5s each. Fat nulves, in average supply (60 sold), were at late values, and prices rauged up to £1 8s each. Fat cattle, yarded in average numbers (215 sold), scarcely kept last week's values. Prices were from lfis to ISs the 1001 b. Steers ranged from £5 15s to £8 7s fid each ; cows, £3 15s to £6. Sheep, in usual quantities (1360 sold), were at late values. Prices for shorn wethers were from 7s fid t.o 12s fid each ; ewes, 6s 6d to 10s 9cl. Lambs, in full supply (320 sold), scarcely kept last week's values, and prices were from 6s to 12s 3d each. Pigs, in usual number (above 80 sold), were required. Porkers were from £1 5s to £1 13s each ; heavy pigs, up ro £2 2s ; store pigs sold freely throughout.
