WELLINGTON WOOL SALES.
(by telegraph.—press association). Wellington, Last fright. At the opening of the new season's wool sales to-day, catalogues were presented by the various brokers for only some 560 bales, as against 1200 bales offered last year, the broken weather and unfavourable prospect as to the prices likely to rule, hindering growers from offering their clips. There was a moderate attendance of buyers, and '* was evident they were prepared to operate freely for any fine wools, but had only low limits for the medium and coarse crossbreds. The top price for medium and coarse crossbred was 6id, as against 7d last year ; bush stained clip realised from 4jd to s|d. Compared with the opening sales last year, the following changes were noted :—Crossbred, good, last year, 7d to 7Jd, to-day 5Jd to6id ; crossbreds, inferior, last year, 6id to 7d, to-day to 6d ; log stained and inferior, last year, 6d to 7d, today 6d to 7}d ; halfbred, last year, 5d to 6d, to-day 4jd to sid.
