(BY telegraph.— press association). Auckland, Last Night. At the Police Court, two bookmakers, named Alexander Phillips and Robert Cleland, were fined £5 and costs, for betting with infants en the Ellerslie racecourse, at the last Spring Meeting. Thos. Bowen, Geo. Laurence, Arthur Tilly, Wm. Widey, Earnest Kelly, Win. Thomson and Robert Johnson (lads), wem fiQcd 5s each and costs ( Js, for making bets on behalf of persons whom they knew to be infants. Rhoda Parker, a woman, was similarly fined for a like charge. Samuel Lindsay was fiued £1 and costs ou a similar charge. In two charges of betting with infants against Albert Edward Glover, sen., one was dismissed, and in the second in conjunction with Hugh Glover, judgment was reserved.
