Messrs Alex. Aitken and Co.'s Report.—Sales are becoming larger and larger every week. In consequence of the show taking place on Friday some lines were short, such as poultry and eggs particularly, and prices consequently firmed. New potatoes are improving in quality and selling well. Onions still very scarce. Chaff and oats continue dull of sale. Maize scarce. Butter plentiful, but all lines sell readily at full value. Gooseberries are coming in more freely ; some very large berries to-day realised 5Jd. Other fruit more plentiful and selling better. Lemons rising rapidly. Poultry and pigs in great demand. The Egmont Farmers' Union report: —There was a good yarding of both cattle and sheep at the Glover Road Yards on the Bih inst. The attendance was large and bidding spirited. Nearly all the lines of stock changed hands before leaving the yards. We quote : Fat bullocks, £5 15s to £6; forward bullocks, £4 103 to £4 16s 6d ; three and a-half year steers. £3 5s to £3 12s 61; fat cow's, £3 8s to £3 15s ; two to two and a-half year steers, £2 to £2 lis; store cows, £1 16s to £2 2s 6d ; dairy heifers, £2 12s 6d to £3 10s ; yearlings, 19s to £1 Is. Sheep: Fat ewes, 10s 3d to 10a 6d ; hoggets, 5s to 7s.
