AMERICAN POLITICS.

(BY electric TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT.) Washington, November 11. The Congressional elections have resulted unfavourably for the Free Silver party, and the Kepublicans claim to have secured an accession of strength in the Senate sufficient to enable them to successfully obstruct the Silverites for years. The Republican victories in the Western States,, the strongholds of the Silver party, are attributed partly to President McKinley's Philippine policy, partly to the decline of the Populists, and partly to the Tammany Hall party being inclined to omit the silver question from the Democratic programme.
