DEATH OF MR G. M. REED.
All readers of the New Zealand Herald will feci regret at the somewhat sudden death of Mr G. M. Reed, which took place at his residence on Saturday morning. Tho older rtaders of that paper will remember the amusement and instruction he afforded them when writing " Calanio Currente," and those of a later date the excellent matter which lias appeared under the signature " Colonus." In addition, same of the most telling and brilliant leading articles which have appeared in the columns of our contemporary have falhn from his pen. It may he fairly written that one of the most able journalists New Zealand has yet seen has passed away. (BY TEI-EG It API I. PRESS ASSOCIATION). Auckland, Last Night. MrG. M. Reed's funeral was largely attended. "Wreaths were sent by the proprietors and literary staff of the Herald, Star and Observer, the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Jour nalists' Institution and the Prohibition League, and a beautiful floral cross, jointly, from all the womens' organisations of the city. Telegrams of condolence have been received by the family from Southern journalists, etc.
