Messrs Arthur Tooman and Co. a Report.—The produce and fruit markets have kept firm, with very little change in values. Poultry has been scarce and high in value. Welcome consignments of Waikato gooseberries ci»mc to hand, and realised up to 4£d per lb. The following are the prices ruling :- Potatoes, old, Southern, £9 10s ; East Coast, £7 ; new kidneys, 1-jd to ljd ; Round, lis to 13s cwt; maiza, 2s lid ; butter, prime dairy, 7d ; poor to medium, sid to 6sd ; prime keg, 6d to 61d ; pastry, fid ; eggs, B*d to 9M ; cheese new, farmers', 4£-d ; factory, large, 43d to fid ; loaf, s£d ; bacon, prime, farmers', 6id to 7d ; factory, 6fd ; Canterbury, old, 2d to 3£d ; hams, 7*d toßid. Fruit: American apples, 17s ; oranges, Sydney, 5s 3d to 7s ; local, 5s to 8s ; lemons, 5s to 6d ; loquats, 2d to 3jd : gooseberries, 4d to 4Jd ; tomatoes, placed 3000 bunches, ex Upolou, at an average of 2s 6d per bunch ; pines, 4s to 8s ; peanuts, 2d to 2§d ; cocoanuts, 5s 6d to 6s. Messrs Alex. Aitken and Co. 8 Report.—Exceptionally heavy consignments came to hand to-day, and all lots were cleared at full value, owing to the large number of buyers who attended. Old potatoes still scarce and dear, consequently new sorts commanded high rates. Vegetables, plentiful; peas, beans and rhubarb selling exceptionally well; maize, scarce ; oats, weak ; chaff, slow of sale; butter, very plentiful, but in good demand; eggs, eagerly sought for at price quoted ; new cheese, just to hand, sold at 5d ; fruit, scarce ; gooseberries coming in in small lots, selling well; loquats, scarce; tomatoes, in great demand ; all poultry in good condition meets with ready sale; pigs and pork fully retain late values.
