POSITION IN CRETE

TURKISH TROOPS WITHRDAWN PRINCE GEORGE OF GREECE GOVERNOR. (BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH—COI-YRICHT). Candia, November 5. THE Turkish troops have left the island. The Sultan ©f Turkey accepts Prince George of Greece as Governor since he is a relation and friend of the Emperor of Germany. November 6. Rear-Admiral Noel, commanding the British fleet in Cretan waters, during the absence of Ottoman transports, directed the Turkish troops forming the garrison of Candia to embark in British transports. Before the embarkation was completed, the Turkish officer countermanded Admiral Noel's order. Admiral Noel thereupon ordered the British mariues and troops to surround the garrison, and threatened to compel them to embark. The Turkish officials perforce obeyed, and marched the troops on board. Detachments of marines supplied by the Admirals of the foreign fleets have occupied the Cretan forts.
