(by telegraph—press association). Wellington, Last Night. The Appeal Court to-day, on the question reserved by Mr Justice Conolly in the Orpeu case, decided that Judge Conolly was right in refusing to allow the statement made by the girl McCallum to Mr J. J. Allom, J.P., to be given in evidence. The expenses incurred in America in connection with the extradition of Dr. Orpen, who was arrested iu San Francisco for the alleged murder of the girl McCallum, in Auckland, of which helms siuce been found not guilty, amounted to £2S7, an account for which has just been received from the United States Government.
