The balance-sheet of Messrs Dalgety and Co. shows a profit of £100,438. A dividend of 8 per cent, is declared, and £20,438 carried forward. Mr Robert Reed, of Melbourne, addressing the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, urged Manchester business people to establish their ovvu shipping line, for the purpose of the direct exchange of Lancashire products for Australian food supplies. A well-known Sydney fortune-te'ler has thrown a new light on Roug'miont's romances. Some years ago, under the name of Green, he regularly attended her seances, and proved himself a strong medium. When under mesmeric influence he related adventures amongst the blacks, and told stories of unlimited treasure, and said he knew where to find them. He performed all sorts of peculiar antfes. In his normal condition, Green was a rough, coarse talker, but under mesmeric influence was quite the gentleman. He disappeared three years ago.
