At a meeting of the exeeutive of the Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, the committee, after considering a letter written by Mr Jephson, Meat Inspector of the Thames, re tlfe Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Bill, adopted the following resolutions : (1) After readingthesweepingand reckless statements reported to have been made by Mr Jephson with regard to the character of the stock sent into the Auckland market, this exeeutive expresses the opinion that Mr Jephson is not a suitable person to act as a judge at the Auckland Show, and the Secretary be instructed to write, stating that his services will not be required ; (2) that this Association ask the Chief Inspector of Stock (Mr Clifton) whether the statement of Mr Jephson as to the large amount of rotten meat and old cows that pass through the hands of the Auckland butchers has any foundation in fact.
