WAIPA RACING CLUB.
A meeting of members of the above was held at Te Awamutu on Thursday evening last. The attendauce was not very good, owing no doubt to the bad state of the weather. Mr Geo. Ahier was voted to the chair, and called upon the Secretary, Mr J. Lyons, to give a statement of the club's affairs. The Secretary stated that the meeting was called merely to decide whether a race meeting should he held this year or not. He might further state that Mr Taylor intended ploughing up the course, but had no hesitation in saying that should the meeting decide to hold races arrangements could be made that the racing track should be left unploughed till alter the races were over. There was a small credit balance of £2 odd in the Bank. Several bad debts had been incurred over the last races, and many of the nominations and acceptances were not paid. The hurdles returned £4 2s 6'!, maiden plate £3 5«, cup £6, trot £1 17s 6d, Kihikihi phte £4, and pony race 15s. In the hurdle race, of £ls, only four paid up the nominations. However, it was his intention to call another meeting to go fully into matters if it was decided at this meeting to hold races, which was the only question before the meeting. After some discussion, in which all present were of opinion that races should be held, Mr H. Weal proposed that races be held during December, the date to be fixed at a future meeting of members. This was seconded by Mr F. Gibson and carried unanimously. The Secretary was requested to attend to piouuriDg the course and to cail another meeting at an early date.
