WAIKATO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.

The entries for the Agricultural Show to be held at Claudelands next week may be considered very satisfactory. They total 488, composed as follows : Horses, 235 ; cattle, 98 ; sheep, 145 ; pigs, 10. It is true the entries are not quite as large as they were last year, but that was not expected to be the case, several alterations in the schedule accounting for the difference. A very important alteration that has been made is one that we feel sure will meet with public approval, namely—giving the bust prize for jumping to those who have never won a similar competition. There are many good horsemen and women in the Waikato who never come forward because they think the old hands are sure to be victorious, but now they will have a chance, and we trust they will respond in a liberal manner. Another change that will meet with universal approval is the free admission of all horses. In former years the gatekeepers have taxed visitors severely iu this direction, but now all horses, whether in buggies or lidden, will be admitted free, and, what is more, a paddock will be provided for their accommodation free of charge. Some of the machinery will be in motion, and given tine weather the show should rje a great success. Excursion trains will run from all parts on the second day, and there will be a return train to Cambridge each day.
