The Waikato Argus Officb, Monday. MR HUNTER'S CAMBRIDGE SALE. Mr W. J. Hunter had a fair sale at Cambridge on Saturday. A large number of animals changed hands, but young stock and dairy cattle were not in great demand. A good number of bullocks changed hands at from £5 15s to £6 6s. MESSRS McNICOL AND CO.'S WAIHOU SALE. Mkssks McNicol and Co. : s Rehoet.— At our Waihou spring cattle sale, held on Friday last, we yarded 807 h«ad, all well-bred, but in very low condition, owing, no doubt, to swamp fires last autumn cleaning out a lot of holdings. We had a good attendance of buyers. Nearly all lots cleared, but although prices were about equal to Waikato markets, they were a good deal lower than at this time last year. Beef sold well, and higher than for some sales past. We quote :—Fat steers, £5 13s to to £7 ; fat cows and heifers, up to £5 7s 6d ; fresh conditioned cows, almost killable, £3 lis to £3 15s; well-bred calves, 17s, 10s, 19s, 20s, 19s, 21s, 18s, 14s, 16s, 15s, for different lofe ; 15-months-old steers, 27s 6d to 335; well-bred lj-year-old steers, £2 8s ; low-conditioned old steers, £2 5s : 2J to 3i-year-old steers. £2 14s, £2 18s, £2 19s, £3 9s, £3 lis, £3 12s; empty cows, very low condition, 27s to 355; best dairy cows and heifers, up to £4 7s 6d ; others. £2 to £3 ss; fat wethers, 14a; store wethers, 9s 3d ; fat ewes, lis 9d to 12s; ewes and 1 ambs, 9s ; fat lambs, 7s 6d; potatoes, 8s to 9s 6d sack ; medium draught mare, £2O 15s ; pigs (weaners), 6s 6d to 10s 6d. MR W. J. HUNTER'S HORSE SALE. Ok Thursday at Mr W. J. Hunter's sale at Ohaupo, about 300 horses of all descriptions were yarded, most of them of a light class ; not many heavy draughts offering, for which there is an unsatisfied demand. Anything good in that line selling well ; in fact, with the exception of weeds, there is a good demand all round for horses. There was a good line of young unbroken draughts from Rukuhia, which sold at high prices, and a yearling got by Royal Conqueror fetched £l4; also a jearlingby Better Times sold at a high price. Some of Prince Fergus' gets also sold well ; one three-year-old colt making £23. Many farmers regret the loss of Prince Fergus to the district, as his stock for farm purposes is hard to beat. As showing the demand for working horses, one twentytwo year-old fetched £ls 10s. It was certainly a record horse sale for Ohaupo, taking the number of horses Bold and the large attendance of the public. It took a day and a half to get through the lot ; one hundred and forty changing hands the first day and over seventy the next.
