CRICKET.

A very enjoyable match was played on Saturday last on the Jubilee Park grouun, TeAwamutu, between the members of the Tc Awamutu Cricket Club. Some of the players showed very good form, considering the fact of tin's being the first game for the season. There was a big muster of players, 26 being present. Messrs F. and C. The first cricket match of the season was played on Sydney Square on Saturday, when Hamilton and Tamahere tried conclusions. The home team, which went first to the wickets, put up 38 runs, the highest scorers being Kiuloch Johnson (G.) Tamahere 31, H. James contributing 9, and V. Ewen 6. Hamilton thus won on the first innings by 7 runs. Some of tbe players on both sides showed good form, considering the small amount of practice. The most successful bowlers were James and V. Ewen for the visiting team, and Kinsella and Johnson for Hamilton.
